Aegan goes to Yercaud!

The shoot of Ajit's Aegan, directed by Raju Sundaram is progressing at brisk pace. From this week the unit is going to shoot, in the hilly summer tourist resort of Yercaud near Salem.
Ajit is planning to drive down to Yercaud for the shoot with his family. Shalini and Anushka too can get away from the burning 'Kathiri' heat of Chennai and chill out in the cool surroundings of the hill station.
The Aegan unit will be shooting in Yercaud, for the next three weeks. After this schedule nearly 90 percent of the film will be over. Two more songs will be shot most likely in England and Spain and with that the film will be ready for an August 15 release.

'Aegan' gets the service of Prabhudeva

Prabhudeva has without a doubt now become one of most considered talents in the Indian film Industry with national awards and several other recognitions coming his way.
The dance moves led by Hrithik Roshan and his group of dancers in a song in the Bollywood film 'Lakshya' which fetched Prabhudeva the national award for the best choreographer is enough to speak of the capacity of the so called boneless wonder.
He makes sure that he leaves a stamp of unmatched perfection and grace in each of the songs for which he does the duty of the dance master.
It will not be an exaggeration if said that people watch the songs not only to see the hero and heroines but also to see the beautiful movements of bodies moving in unison envisaged by this talented guy.
Film makers who want the dancing wizard's service for their films are not always lucky given that the person in news has got very busy these days with a super hit film 'Pokkiri' under his belt as a director and its soon to be released Hindi remake.
Prabhudeva’s untitled future project with Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay and Nayantara will have Ravi Varman, the acclaimed cinematographer of films like 'Anniyan', 'Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu' and the magnum opus 'Dasavatharam' who is now wrapping up his first directorial venture 'Moscowin Kaveri' wielding the camera and Devi Sri Prasad composing the music.
So in such a busy time Raju Sundaram gets the golden goose to help him out in his high profile 'Aegan' starring the ultimate star Ajith after his block buster 'Billa'.
Raju Sundaram, brother of Prabhudeva who himself is a known choreographer cum actor doesn't want to leave any stones to be left out when his debut directorial venture is concerned.
So his call to his brother to choreograph a song in 'Aegan' which will be shot in Tekkady was heard by Prabhudeva in spite of being fully engaged.
Raju Sundaram must not have thought much about his brother's busy schedule as he knows that Prabhudeva does not need much time to come out with never before seen steps and great ideas to make a song perfect and spicy.

Casting

Following the announcement of the project, tentiatively titled as Akbar, Shriya Saran was rumoured to be the heroine, following her successful role in Sivaji: The Boss. However due to differences, Saran was ousted from the project due to her limited callsheets, as she had to fly to and from America where she was then shooting for her Hollywood film, The Other End of the Line. However other indications claimed that Saran was ousted from the project due to her involvement in Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan, in which she appeared in an item number; which Ajith Kumar was unhappy with due to previous feuds with the lead, Vadivelu of that film. Reports indicated that Parvati Melton had replaced Saran, but later denied it signalling that she was not approached. Suhani Kalita was announced as the second heroine of the project, but was later removed due to unknown reasons. Several Bollywood heroines including Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Ayesha Takia, Ileana D'Cruz, Tanushree Dutta and Sneha Ullal were linked to the role, as well as reports that Shriya Saran would reprise the role after making up with Ajith. The role eventually was given to Katrina Kaif, who was set to make her debut in Tamil films with Aegan, however she later opted out due to callsheet clashes. It was announced that Nayantara would play the role of the heroine in the film, following her role opposite Ajith in Billa. Furthermore it has been indicated that Namitha, Mumaith Khan and Rakhi Sawant will all appear in an item number in the film. In February 2008, it was confirmed that Navdeep would play a role in the film as well as Suman, who will appear in a villainous role. Malayalam actor, Jayaram will also play a role in the film, which will be co-produced by actor, Arun Pandian.
Nassar and Suhasini Ratnam were selected to play the roles of the parents of Ajith, whilst Raju Sundaram's elder brother, Prabhu Deva was given a chance to make a cameo appearance in the film as a dancer. Supporting actors M. S. Baskar and Sriman also play roles in Aegan, as does newcomer model Piya, who appears as the ladylove to Navdeep. Yuvan Shankar Raja was signed on as the music composer whilst debutant Arjunan was given the opportunity to be the cinematographer for the project and Milan, who did the art direction for Billa, renews his association with Ajith in the film.
